We consulted residents on three Automated Public Conveninces (Sloane Square, Gloucester Road and South Kensington) proposed closure.
We received a very small number of responses, with feedback from a total of ten residents.
The Lead Member for Planning, Place & Environment approved the closure of three APCs - at Gloucester Road, Sloane Square and South Kensington- to take place on 1 April 2023.
Kensington and Chelsea Council delivers a variety of toilet provisions across the borough. Although there is no requirement to provide toilet facilities, we understand their importance. However, we do have an obligation to spend public money wisely and ensure value for money.
Some of the toilets in the borough are automated public conveniences (APC) provided by external suppliers and come with hire and maintenance charges which are paid for by the Council.
Having reviewed the cost per use of these APCs, three have been identified as not being value for money and the Council is proposing that these units should be closed.
Further details of the proposed closures and details of toilet facilities across the borough can be found in the summary document below. Please take the time to read this information as it provides important context to the proposals.
The Council are seeking the views of residents and stakeholders on the proposed closures of the three APCs at Gloucester Road, South Kensington and Sloane Square.
If you include your contact details, you will be provided with the consultation results. When submitting comments, it is important that you provide as much detail as possible, explaining your views on the proposal.
