Local Plan Review
Feedback updated 10 Mar 2021
We asked
The Council started the review of our new Local Plan last autumn with the publication of its Issues Paper. This document set out what we thought the main planning issues to be addressed in our new Local Plan might be, and we asked residents and local people for their views on this.

We are currently considering all the comments which we received, and using these to help us draft our Issues and Options paper. This will set out what we now think the main issues are and will offer a number of realistic options to address them.
We did
All of the comments received, and our response to them, will be published alongside this Issues and Options Paper. This is expected to be in the Summer of 2021 with the draft plan published later in the Autumn.
Overview
The Local Plan sets out the vision for future development in the borough over a 20 year period and includes the planning policies to help achieve this vision. It can do so by identifying locations that are suitable for good growth as well as for conservation and by setting clear guidelines for appropriate land uses, form and design of development. The aim is to achieve good accessible placemaking that protects and improves resident’s health and well-being, provides good quality homes, enhances the economy and environment.
Why your views matter
An Issues document has been put together as the first stage of drafting our new Local Plan. We were undertaking this early engagement to give our residents and local businesses an opportunity to help shape the Plan before pen is put to paper.
