Lots Road Open Space

Opens 24 Feb 2025

Closes 6 Apr 2025

Overview

Have Your Say on a new open space

We are planning a new open space on Lots Road behind the Lots Road Pumping station with seating, planting and play space. The space will need to have flexibility and demountable elements as part of it sits on top of the Thames Tideway Tunnel, which means it will need to be cleared at times so that the tunnel can be accessed to provide maintenance access. This means the site will not be a conventional park but will offer a new open space for residents in the area. The final design and layouts are, subject to consultation with Thames Tideway and Thames Water and this may result in some areas being restricted from use.

The new open space will have:

  • Planting, including plants that are beneficial for wildlife and interest in all seasons.
  • Seating
  • Play and informal sports
  • Drinking fountain
  • Ornamental entrance gates on Lots Road
  • Other options suitable for the space

The Design

We have shortlisted three experienced designers to help create proposals for the space.

These designers have produced high-level outline proposals and as part of the tender submission for the final designer, residents are being asked to choose their favourite design. The public 'have your say' is open to residents of the Chelsea Riverside, ward only.  Consultation responses from outside this ward will be discounted.

The resident choice will form 50 per cent of the evaluation, which will also include assessments of bidder’s technical expertise.

The winning designer will work with the community to create the final vision for the new open space which we plan to deliver in 2026.

Given the unique nature of the new space, we will also look at what options could be added to local parks at Westfield Park and Cremorne Gardens to further enhance residents’ opportunities to enjoy the local area.
