We asked

The Council is undertaking a New Local Plan Review (NLPR), the document which will help shape the nature of development across the Borough over the next 20 years.

This consultation on draft policies took account of two previous consultations and technical evidence. We want to hear your views on these draft policies and understand if we have got these right or we need to make some changes or additions. We would also like to hear any views you may have on our Integrated Impact Assessment Interim Report.

We have published the responses received to this consultation. We also ran a survey for those interested in giving us a quick view on the New Local Plan Review's (NLPRs) vision.

As the NLPR follows a statutory process, as required by legislation we will be consulting next on the ‘soundness’ of the Plan. This consultation will start in the Autumn for six weeks. We will be publishing how we considered your responses alongside that consultation.

What is a Local Plan?

The Local Plan sets out the vision for future development in the borough over a 20 year period and includes the planning policies to help achieve this vision. It can do so by identifying locations that are suitable for good growth as well as for conservation and by setting clear guidelines for appropriate land uses, form and design of development. The aim is to achieve good accessible placemaking that protects and improves resident’s health and well-being, provides good quality homes, enhances the economy and environment.
