Traffic Order S315 - Earl's Court Square
Overview
The Council has received requests from residents for an on-street cycle hangar unit in Earl's Court Square. Residents living in flats experience particular difficulty storing bicycles at home and much existing cycle parking on-street does not offer high levels of security. The proposal is to introduce one secure cycle hangar unit of the following dimensions outside No. 1A Earl’s Court Square:
- Length: 2550mm
- Height: 1365mm
- Depth: 2030mm
Each on-street cycle hangar unit provides space for six residents’ bicycles. The spaces are rentable at a cost of £72 per year and would be available for rent on a first come, first served basis.
Why your views matter
We are seeking your views on conversion of three metres (10ft) of resident parking to double yellow lines outside No. 1A Earl’s Court Square. This area will accommodate an on-street cycle hangar unit. Your comments will help us decide whether to proceed with the proposals as planned.
The section of residents’ parking is approximately 14 metres (46ft) long, enough for two cars. Shortening the bay by 3 metres (10ft) would leave 11 metres (36ft) and will allow parking for two cars. The highest occupancy levels in the most recent occupancy survey in September 2018, were the Sunday, Weekday Afternoon, Weekday Evening, and Weekday Overnight levels, of 100 per cent.
Officers have looked to see if there is any single yellow line which could be converted to residents’ parking to mitigate against the loss of residents’ parking, but were unable to find any suitable single yellow line for such a conversion in the area.
