Silchester Road Central Reservation

Closes 3 Aug 2025

Opened 23 Jun 2025

Overview

Kensington and Chelsea Council is striving to become a Greener, Safer and Fairer borough. As part of improvements to Cycleway 27 and in response to concerns from Kensington Aldridge Academy over near-miss collisions, the Council is proposing to introduce a new central reservation where Silchester Road meets Lancaster Road.

The proposals involve introducing a raised median strip either side of the existing zebra crossing to encourage vehicles to remain within the carriageway lane and reduce speeds on the bend.

The approximate position of the median strip can be seen in the plan below.
