We asked for views on the proposal to make permanent an experimental School Street pedestrian and cycle zone in St Charles Square on a permanent basis. All motor vehicles will be restricted from entering the closure during 8 – 8.30 am and 2.45 – 3.15 pm Mondays to Fridays.

You said

We received seven objections to the proposal - 14 in response to the first Experimental Traffic Order (ETO), three of which have also responded to the second ETO, and three in response to the snapshot survey. There were also 21 supportive comments 10 in response to the first ETO, one of which also emailed a letter of support regarding the second ETO and 11 positive responses to the snapshot survey.

We did

We have made permanent the experimental traffic order to provide a School Street pedestrian and cycle zone in St Charles Square. All motor vehicles will be restricted from entering the closure during 8 – 8.30 am and 2.45 – 3.15 pm Mondays to Fridays.

Overview

From 19 April 2021, motor vehicles will be banned from entering St Charles Square (north to south arm) between the south-eastern kerb-line of St Charles Square (arm adjacent to Nos. 26 and 28 St Charles Square and Nos. 273 and 275 Ladbroke Grove) and the north-western kerb-line of St Charles Square (southernmost west to east arm) between 8.00am and 8.30am and between 2.45pm and 3.15pm on Mondays to Fridays inclusive (term time only). 

[Note: Foot scooters, electric scooters, emergency vehicles, Dial-a-ride buses and vehicles displaying a valid Blue Badge are exempt from the closure. Residents and traders who live or work in the sections of road referred to above will be able to register for an exemption.]
