Ledbury Road Zebra Crossing
Overview
Please read the following information carefully before filling in our consultation survey, no later than 23:59 on Sunday 12 July 2026.
Enabling more walking is one of the Council’s transport objectives and helping to make it easier and safer for pedestrians to cross the road is an important step in meeting that objective.
As part of upgrades to the Council's existing Cycleway network, the Council is proposing to introduce a new zebra crossing and footway extentions on Ledbury Road, at the junction with Talbot Road. The new crossing will make it easier for people to cross the road, with extended footways giving greater visibility between pedestrians and drivers. The crossing is also expected to provide breaks in traffic flow for cyclists using the Cycleway along Talbot Road, across Ledbury Road.
If implemented, the scheme would be funded by Transport for London.
The proposals include:
- Introduction of a zebra crossing just north of the junction of Ledbury Road / Talbot Road
- Removal of the existing pedestrian islands south of the junction
- Footway build outs on all sides of the junction, to narrow the carriageway to reduce speeds and increase visibility between pedestrians and drivers
- Removal of three residents' parking bays and relocation of the motorcycle parking bay to the first resident bay north east of the junction.
- Conversion of the Single Yellow Line to Double Yellow Line along the southern footway extensions on Ladbroke Grove
The approximate position of the zebra crossing and extended footways can be seen in the plan linked below.
