St Luke’s Gardens - Proposed Improvements
Feedback updated 4 Apr 2023
We asked
The Council asked residents and park users their view of improving the play area and climbing rock area at St Luke’s Gardens. We asked residents what type of material they would like the play equipment made from, the preferred type of safety surface, what they would want included in the new play area, what improvements they would like to see made to the climbing rock area.
You said
- You would prefer wooden/timber or natural equipment
- You would prefer a mixture of safety surfacing types
- The most popular responses when asked about preferred play equipment were:
- Multi-unit/climbing frames
- Swings
- Slides
- Jumper/ Trampoline
- Balancing equipment
For improvements to the climbing rock area
The most popular choice was to remove two climbing rocks and the rest remain, using the space created to add a table tennis table and game top picnic table.
We did
The results have been used to finalise a design brief for the refurbishments to the main play area and improvements to the climbing rock area, and the scheme has been tendered. The finalised design is now subject to a formal faculty application from the Church, once this is approved we will be able to commence work installing the new play area and add a new table tennis table and game top picnic table to the climbing rock area. It is currently estimated that the works will commence on site in around October 2023.
Overview
Kensington and Chelsea Council are seeking your views on the proposed refurbishment of the children’s play area and climbing rock area at St Luke’s Gardens. The current play equipment and surfacing needs updating due to the age of the equipment and surfacing reaching the end of serviceable life. We also wish to understand if the climbing rock area is well used and what alternatives this space might be used for.
We would appreciate it if you could spend a few minutes answering the following questions.
This survey will run for a period of six weeks and will close on Monday 17 October 2022.
